Frequently Asked Questions

I found a Prop 65 warning on my Conn-Selmer product. What does it mean?

Can I buy direct from you, or where can I purchase a Conn-Selmer, Inc. instrument?

  • Use the Dealer Locator at top of the page to locate a dealer in your area, or you can browse our Outlet Store for Factory Direct Clearance opportunities.

What is the price on a Conn-Selmer, Inc. instrument?

  • Conn-Selmer, Inc. publishes manufacturer suggested retail prices (MSRP) for the United States only. These prices serve as a guideline. Dealers and music stores across the U.S. determine their own selling prices. Distributors and dealers outside the U.S. also set their own prices. Please consider more than price when buying a musical instrument, taking into account other important factors such as service, maintenance and repair, and other support that music stores can provide during and after the purchase.

How old is my instrument?

  • For your convenience, Conn-Selmer, Inc. has provided chronology charts based on serial numbers for dating instruments. Please visit the serial number page for more information.

How do I get my instrument repaired? It is still under warranty?

  • We require all warranty repair requests and inquiries to go back through the dealer that you purchased your instrument from. We do this because we do not have access to information such as whom a dealer sold something to or when they sold it, which dictates the warranty period. You will want to contact the dealer you bought your instrument from to discuss whether or not it still carries a factory warranty for repairs.

Can you do overhauls on older instruments?

  • No, unfortunately our factories are unable to accommodate requests for non-warranty service. We suggest contacting your local Conn-Selmer dealer to inquire about repairs and service that are not warranty related. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to these issues and can recommend a contact if they are unable to assist you. You may also wish to try locating a repair shop on this website:
  • National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians (NAPBIRT)

How much is my old instrument worth?

  • Like any antique or collectible, the "value" or "worth" of your instrument rests in finding the right buyer. Conn-Selmer, Inc. does not deal in used, collectible or antique instruments. We do not offer appraisals either. Many dealers and music stores around the U.S. offer such evaluations. You may also wish to consider these external internet sources:

I would like to sell/buy a used instrument on an online auction. Can you tell me more about it?

  • We are unable to address requests for information pertaining to online auctions of musical instruments. We deal in newly manufactured instruments only and unfortunately cannot assess value, identify or give specs on older models. You may wish to contact your local Conn-Selmer dealer for assistance. They are extremely knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to any Conn-Selmer instrument. Alternatively, you may wish to do an online search to locate additional information on your instrument.

Does Conn-Selmer, Inc. buy or sell used, collectible or antique instruments?

  • Conn-Selmer, Inc. only deals in the manufacturing and distribution of new instruments and accessories. Please refer to the previous FAQ question for information on buying or selling such instruments.
